Chris Pratt: 10 Roles That Passed You By

7. Moneyball

Co-written by Aaron Sorkin, Moneyball follows the real life events of the Oakland Athletics baseball team, and the attempts of general manager Billy Beane to produce an underdog team who can compete against their rivals for which money is no object. Acting opposite Brad Pitt, Pratt played Scott Hatteberg, a catcher signed by the A's after an injury meant he was let go by his previous team. Unlike his usual roles Hatteberg was hardly comedic, let alone goofy, and is someone who takes the responsibilities of both his family and performance expectations seriously. Initially Pratt was told he was too big for the part of a professional baseball player, but he would later resend the casting crew a photo of himself having lost over two stone. Weight which he attributed to his wife Anna Farris' cooking, it was the first film in the succession of his bodyweight yo-yoing in order to fill a variety of roles. It was also the first of Pratt's films to be nominated for the coveted Motion Picture of the year Oscar, but was far from the last.
