4. A Standout James Bond Villain

Only a year before donning an infeasibly long wig for Space: 1999, Christopher Lee conquered another, much more important franchise: James Bond. Fans of 007 still rave about Lee's intense performance as Francisco Scaramanga in 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun, one of the series' stand-out baddies.

Lee stole every scene as the most expensive assassin in the world, the three-nippled eponymous "man". The gun, of course, held just a single bullet because Scaramanga only ever needed one.

So popular was Lee as Scaramanga, that he returned to voice the character in the GoldenEye: Rogue Agent game 30 years later in 2004. But Christopher Lee had connections with James Bond that went far beyond the films and video games; in real life, Lee was the step-cousin of Bond's creator, Ian Fleming.
