1. Alexander (2004)
This was a huge role for Farrell, make no mistake. One of the most compelling and revered heroes in all of history, Alexander the Great is a role that many actors would scramble for the chance to play. Unfortunate then that in the hands of Oliver Stole and Colin Farrell, this iconic figure was seemingly too great to convey. Farrell does try, you can almost feel him straining to get it right, but hes miscast, plain and simple. The clean, blonde look clashes entirely with his persona and his strangely unchanged Irish accent (youd have thought Stone would have gone olde world English on it) makes him seem out of place in ancient Greece with every syllable uttered. Despite some impressive battle scenes, and accomplished cinematography, we discovered Farrells limit in Alexander. As a conflicted Irish Hitman, hes second to none. As one of the hungriest, most fiercely ambitious historical leaders to ever live, hes out of his depth. So there are our favourite - and least favourite of course - Colin Farrell performances from throughout his lengthy career. How do you think hell fare in Arnies boots this August? As per the usual arrangement, do let us know!
