Comic Book Movies: 5 Great Villains And 5 That Were Awful

1. Doctor Doom (Julian McMahon)

This utter trainwreck of a depiction of possibly the best villain in comic book history was just one of a huge list of reasons that the Fantastic Four movies absolutely sucked. In the comics, Doom gets his powers from an armoured suit that is full to the brim with massive high-tech gadgetry and from the fact that he is skilled in the mystic arts. He also got his scars from one of his own machines exploding in his face. In the movie, he gets his powers and scars from the same cosmic source that grants the Fantastic Four their powers and slowly begins to mutate in to a metal-being with electrical powers. This, combined with the fact that this version of Doom is a pretty-boy who is less imposing than a puppy dog, makes him a far cry from his epic comic book counterpart. If the Fantastic Four reboot is to include Doctor Doom, heaven forbid the depiction of the character is butchered to this horrible extent. Quote:"Do you really think fate turned us into gods so we could refuse these gifts?" Dishonourable mentions for Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones), Parallax (CGI), Penguin (Danny DeVito), Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda/Ciaran Hinds), Nick Nolte (a strange Absorbing Man-esq character), Bane (Robert Swenson), Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Blackout (Johnny Whitworth). So what do you think? Which comic book villains have been depicted well on screen and which have been ruined? Have your say in the comments.
