Comic Con 2018: 10 Things We Wanted Announced (But Weren't)
1. Star Wars: Episode IX
With all of the headlines and polarizing opinions still circling around The Last Jedi, months after its release, how Lucasfilm handles the marketing of Episode IX will be very interesting to watch.
Considering that filming on Episode IX started the same weekend as Comic-Con, it was entirely plausible that Lucasfilm might sneak in a surprise appearance from director J.J. Abrams or even some of the cast via video chat from the set. Much like Avengers 4, literally any bit of news concerning this film would have easily made it one of the biggest talking points of Comic-Con.
The film is still a year-and-a-half out from release, so it's probably too early for the film to even reveal its official title. But even something as simple as a glimpse of any of the core cast in their costumes would have been gargantuan news. All reports thus far seem to heavily indicate that Episode IX will be seeing a major time jump forward, and so even just a look at what Jedi Master Rey or Supreme Leader Kylo Ren might look like in the film could have had major ramifications.
Alas, Lucasfilm remained entirely silent of Episode IX, leaving fans to focus eclusively on The Clone Wars revival instead.
