Comic-Con 2018: 6 Ups And 3 Downs

1. Buffy Is Being Rebooted

There was, perhaps, a sad inevitability to the fact Fox would look to bring back Buffy the Vampire Slayer which, despite never being a huge ratings hit, is regarded as one of the most influential shows of the last 20 years.

Most disappointing, though, is the route they've chosen to go down, with the series confirmed to be a fully blown reboot. It'll be executive produced by Joss Whedon, with Monica Breen (Lost, Agents of SHIELD) serving as showrunner, and while no casting has been made yet they have confirmed it'll be a black actress in the titular role.

There's definitely a way to tell more stories in this universe, playing on the mythology we already know - whether it's a sequel or a prequel - and more diversity is always welcome, but there's absolutely no need to be telling Buffy's story again.
