With recent confirmation that Joaquin Phoenix will indeed star as The Joker in Todd Phillips' standalone origin story for the Clown Prince of Crime, it was further confirmed over Comic-Con week that the movie will simply be titled "Joker", and is set to release on October 4, 2019.

Heightening the intrigue even further was the revelation that Deadpool 2's Domino herself, Zazie Beetz, is in advanced talks to play the film's female lead. Details are scarce on the exact nature of the role, though The Hollywood Reporter claims Beetz will play a single mother who becomes close with The Joker.

The production, which is budgeted at a modest $55 million, will reportedly start shooting later in the year. Get hype.
