San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone for another year, and if you're even remotely interested in genre movies or TV shows, it's of course worth paying attention to, given the glut of crowd-pleasing reveals and announcements that follow.

And this year's SDCC sure didn't disappoint when it came to the shock announcements, trailer drops, casting reveals and all-around celebration of everything cult and nerdy.

The Con was naturally jam-packed with exciting revelations, but these are the 10 that, above all others, whipped fans into a frenzy both in San Diego and on social media.

Needless to say, if you were disappointed that Marvel Studios pulled a no-show at last year's Comic-Con, they sure made up for it this time, coming armed to the gills with a titanic slate of new films and TV shows, while hinting at the future direction of the mammoth franchise.

That Marvel dropped the curtain on the MCU's future the very same day that Avengers: Endgame finally toppled Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time is just too perfect...
