Commissioner Gordon turns on the Bat Signal... says The Dark Knight Returns next year!!

oldmanheaderGary Oldman may be playing us for fools, but during the Comic Con panel for his upcoming Denzel Washington apocalyptic thriller The Book of Eli, Commissioner Gordon himself claimed that production is ramping up on Batman 3 to shoot next summer, with the film coming out as early as 2011. Which contradicts all the official and unofficial scuttlebutt we have been hearing in the 12 months since The Dark Knight took over the summer of 2008. Oldman officially said...
€œThe next batman is next year, so I think it is two years away. But you didn€™t hear it from me.€
Which is about as far and away from the usual answer of "well it depends what happens with Chris" which everyone involved in the series has answered with when inevitably cornered by journalists wanting to get this kind of scoop. Is Oldman telling the truth, has he got his wires crossed? Is Nolan on board... could he even possibly be on board considering he is mega busy on Inception, hardly a small sized flick. Of course it's feasible, but he would have to move onto the film straight away. Guess we'll find out later today as Quint from AICN has one-on-one time with Nolan, and he's already mentioned he is going to quiz him on this electric quote. After the jump, Matt speculates on how this news, might relate to something that happened on the streets of Soho this week... SPL114882_004 And I'm playing devil's advocate pretty much unapologetically here but the party in Soho that Chris Nolan threw this week ,which is probably more infamous now because of Jude Law's antics after the event when he assaulted a female photographer. Well, why was Law there? Talking about The Joker? Talking about The Riddler? Probably just as a celebrity friend of a cast member, or Nolan, but you never know. If this really is to film next year, casting choices will have to be made soon. Has Warner Bros. given a massive money offer to Nolan to make this movie NOW, and has he reached out to Law to play the villain? Of course it's an outlandish rumour and not one I really want you to take seriously. But it's fun nevertheless.
