Community Cast: Where Are They Now?

Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino) made a splash in Community. Though he departed the show early in its fifth season, Glover's Troy Barnes is part of Community's DNA and often tops peoples' lists of favourite characters.

Before Community, Glover was a writer for 30 Rock and even appeared in some episodes. His big break was Community, during which he had appearances in other TV shows and some films, but nothing major.

After leaving Community in a very emotional season 5 episode, the budding young creative pursued his career in music under the stage name Childish Gambino. As Childish Gambino, Glover has risen to fame with a number of hits including This Is America and Redbone. His music career is undoubtedly successful and enough for someone to keep busy with, but that doesn't stop him. Glover is also the star of Atlanta, a show he created, wrote, directed, and served as executive producer on. On top of this, the megastar intends to write and direct a trilogy, as he stated in an audio recording he posted to Twitter and later took down. Whether this happens or not, Glover is a busy man.

As well as Atlanta and his music career, Glover has appeared in blockbusters such as Solo: A Star Wars Story, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The Lion King (2019).

After leaving Community to pursue bigger things there is certainly a question as to whether Glover would return to Community for a reunion film. Though committing to a 90-minute movie is certainly easier than committing to 13+ episodes of a sitcom. It wouldn't be a surprise if Troy Barnes turned up in some way in the Community Movie.
