20 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Had NO IDEA About
1. Return to Tomorrow
And finally we have the most unexpected sequel of all.
There's a good chance you've never even heard of Escape from Tomorrow - a 2013 indie horror film which gained notoriety for being secretly filmed at Disney World and Disneyland without the Mouse House's permission.
Though it premiered to massive buzz at that year's Sundance Film Festival, it failed to gain much traction on wider release, garnering mixed reviews and swiftly disappearing off the face of the Earth - an outcome that likely delighted Disney.
But 13 years later, filmmaker Randy Moore has returned with a follow-up - Return to Tomorrow, in which protagonist Jim White (Roy Abramsohn) suffers what the synopsis calls a "Lynchian crisis of masculinity" while on a family vacation in Miami.
Impressively, Moore not only managed to shoot the sequel on 35mm film, he also secured the services of legendary, late actor Udo Kier to play Jim's father in his final role.
The sequel premiered recently at the Florida Film Festival to mixed reviews, though the fact this follow-up exists at all is nothing short of a bonkers miracle.
