9. Lights Out 2
David F. Sandberg's directorial debut Lights Out - based off his own viral short of the same name - was an absolutely monstrous box office hit, grossing an incredible $148.9 million on a mere $5 million budget.
Considering its ingenious, easily understood premise - of a supernatural force that can only attack in the dark - Lights Out seemed ripe to become horror's next big franchise, but alas it wasn't to be.
Though a sequel was initially greenlit just a week after the original's release with Sandberg and writer Eric Heisserer both set to return, no substantial progress was made in the near-decade that followed.
Eventually Sandberg himself even declared that the time for Lights Out 2 had probably passed, only for the sequel to be formally confirmed back in March.
Though Sandberg and Heisserer are seemingly only involved as producers, the fact that it's happening at all so long after the fact is shocking, frankly.
One can assume, though, that it'll be more of a soft reboot than a direct continuation of the Teresa Palmer-starring original.
