Craig & Moore in talks for Meirelles' Blindness

n12997.jpgIf the name Fernando Meirelles means nothing to you, then you should feel ashamed. He is the helmer of City of God and The Constant Gardner, two movies that critics totally fell in love with. Now I liked City of God up to a point and it's a very strong movie but I couldn't see what all the fuss was about with The Constant Gardner. It wasn't just the fact that his camera work made me feel a bit sick, but can anyone explain to me why the film was anything special or superior to any other drama/thriller? Anyway, the truth is Meirelles is a critics darling at the moment, and his next film Blindness will probably be no different.... Adapted by Don McKellar from Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago's acclaimed novel, the story chronicles an epidemic of blindness that sweeps through an unnamed contemporary city and pushes society to the brink of breakdown. The Hollywood Reporter are telling us that Daniel Craig (who we are going to see a lot of in the next two years) and Julianne Moore are both in various stages of negoatations with the movie. Over the next two years, Craig's slate includes Bond 22 (which we should start hearing news about soon I would guess), The reimaging of Invasion of the Body Snatches, the first part of The Golden Compass and his role as Lucifer. source - the hollywood reporter, coming soon
