20 Most WTF Horror Movies Of The 2020s (So Far)
12. Resurrection
On the surface of things, Resurrection looks like a pretty down-the-line psychological horror film in which a woman, Margaret (Rebecca Hall), is forced to reckon with the re-emergence of her abusive ex-partner, David (Tim Roth).
But, without giving the game away, let's just say that things are even more twisted and complicated than that, with David making a horrifying implication which may or may not be true.
Writer-director Andrew Semans balances the story on a razor's edge where the audience isn't ever quite sure how much of what they're seeing is real, and that tension is only exacerbated by Rebecca Hall's utterly thermonuclear, Oscar-worthy performance.
Every frame of this film absolutely drips with unease, Semans leading us to believe that one of several equally unnerving outcomes are possible, all while Tim Roth turns in some of his most brilliantly understated work as the antagonist.
Resurrection's third act certainly takes a brave left turn that won't hit for everyone, but it's nothing if not a wildly WTF conversation-starter.
