Danny Boyle's 127 HOURS trailer

The teaser trailer for Danny Boyle's Toronto & London Film Festival showcase 127 Hours attempts to throw a slight curve-ball by advertising a different kind of movie to what they will showcase in a month's time. Fox Searchlight literally chuck everything in the mix here to grab the attention of Joe Public. A big reference to Slumdog Millionaire (this movie has same studio, director, producer, composer) a potential sub-plot of teenage debauchery, youthful lust for life and romance (that will last about as long as it does in the trailer and then it's done) and a hint at a conventional horror movie, which I suppose in a way 127 Hours is... but the way this trailer ends it hints at the horrors that lie beneath. As if a monstrous goblin is going to drag James Franco's soul to hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FfWVG2H-KQ I guess it's not all that surprising given the admittedly 'challenging' aspect of the one-man/one-setting show. Still... we all expected Fox would pull a stunt like this to make it as appealing to the mainstream as possible. We'll know more in a month after we've clasped eyes on it at TIFF on Sept 12th - the movie is aiming for a November release.
