Over a year ago now it was annouced that composer
Danny Elfman wouldn't be scoring the music for Spider-Man 3 after falling out with director
Sam Raimi. To refresh your memories, this is what he told
About.com through
Moviehole in September 2005....
Im not working on Spider-Man 3. Im out of that. I wont miss not doing it. Spider-Man 2 was a miserable experience......Ive had it. Its just not worth it. Id rather go back to waiting tables than to do Spider-Man 2 again, to have to have the same experience." Composer
Christopher Young was hired for Spidey 3 and that was that. Well at least until a couple of days ago, when the news was made on the official
Spider-Man 3 blog that Elfman would be returning to the franchise to work alongside Christopher Young for the film's score. Grant Curtis said on the blog...
"Danny and Chris Young are both working on the picture. We have yet to start actively working on the music, but we will start soon". This is certainly suprising news. It was almost unthinkable this time last year that Elfman would return for Spidey 3 after his comments about working on the second film. I like Elfman but I have to admit his work is getting really stale lately. His score for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sounded exactly like his Batman score, which is one criticism that kept coming up about his work on Spider-Man. It will be interesting to see how different the scores ends up come May time. source -
