2. Bring In Some Actual Horror Directors
Dark Universe must embrace all forms of horror if it is to fulfil its potential, so it's imperative that Universal recruits directors who know the genre inside and out.
The filmmakers already in place - Kurtzman and Condon - may be capable directors in their own right, but the project would benefit from more macabre influences.
Wouldn't the likes of Guillermo Del Toro, Sam Raimi and John Carpenter be right at home in Dark Universe? They live and breathe this stuff.
That isn't to suggest every movie from here on in should be a nightmare-inducing gore fest, but adding a some true horror elements to the cauldron would make the shared world tonally diverse and please some Dracula fans in the process.
