Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Trailer: 5 Key Things We Learned

4. Humanity Fights Itself Before Fighting the Apes

One of the most interesting bits of the trailer is the fact that humanity fought each other before turning their attention to fixing the rising Ape problem. When you consider human nature, it makes sense that in an apocalyptic crisis humanity would desperately fight for resources. As nations fall, people rise up and attempt to take control. It's also worth noting that there are survivors of the virus, so it will be interesting to see footage of how we escaped complete annihilation. Was some sort of cure developed? Or did the non-infected simply hide and wait out the apocalypse? We're given brief clips of the world fallen into chaos, and I wonder if that will be a part of the film or will simply be a a prologue or flashback to establish where we are now.
Now that the dust has settled from humanity's war with itself , it seems they're keen to turn their attention on the real problem: the Apes. Gary Oldman has seemingly ascended the ranks to leader of humanity, and gives a great voiceover at the end of the teaser: "You all know what we're up against... And I want you to know... It's not just about power. It's about giving us the hope... to rebuild. To reclaim the world we lost."
