DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation
7. The Flash
Release Date: March 23rd, 2018
Last year, it was announced that Ezra Miller would be taking up the mantle of The Flash in the DCEU, rather odd timing given that The CW's separate The Flash series was just kicking off. Since that time, the series exceeded expectations, winning over tons of new fans and solidifying Grant Gustin's status as the modern Flash in the eyes of many.
Well aware of the series' popularity, Miller has done what he can to talk up the fact that, despite his excitement for the role, he's not trying to steal Gustin's thunder, hoping that both interpretations of the character can exist harmoniously. Like Shazam the following year, it's likely that The Flash will flaunt the lighter aspects of the DCEU, especially with 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie writer/directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller bringing their comic sensibilities to the film's screenplay.
Before The Flash gets his own film, though, he'll most definitely be turning up in the DCEU via the first Justice League film in 2017, if not a cameo even earlier in Batman V Superman. Gustin's Flash is already beloved, having set a high bar for portraying Barry Allen that he'll hopefully only continue to raise as the years go on, but we're still curious as to what the DCEU can do with the character, his mythos and a higher budget for a much larger worldwide audience.
