DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation

6. Suicide Squad

DC Cinematic Universe
Warner Bros.

Release Date: August 5th, 2016

Much has already been debated about the DCEU's third film throughout its production. From the casting of Will Smith to the tattoos on The Joker to the script leak and everything in between, it's hard to discuss anything about Suicide Squad that hasn't already been picked clean by optimists and pessimists all over the Internet.

This past July, we got our first major look at the film via a trailer, which gave us a clearer picture of what to expect in terms of its tone and its placement in the DCEU, feeling like a natural extension of what we've seen so far of Batman V Superman. Whether you like what you've seen or not, Warner Bros. and DC deserve credit for taking the gamble in a film solely about the villains of a universe they've hardly scratched the surface of, months and years in advance of the solo adventures of the marquee-level heroes they could've focused on first.

Between characters like Deadshot, Killer Croc, Enchantress, Katana and, of course, Harley Quinn all making their big screen debuts in the film and Jared Leto's whole new take on the Clown Prince of Crime, the film already has a lot of flavour. Even keeping any reservations about the final product in check, the simple concept of the film makes it easy to hold out hope that it all comes together next August to make it a solid entry in the DCEU.
