Due to current world events, Warner Bros. was forced to halt production on The Batman back in March. Now, the plan is for shooting to resume next month, but director Matt Reeves shocked everyone when he confirmed that only 25 - 30% of the movie has been shot at this point.

The fact Warner Bros. was even able to release a trailer is kind of mind-blowing, but the filmmaker had plenty of other new details to share, including the fact that the Selina Kyle won't be Catwoman when she appears here, and that The Batman is also going to serve as an origin story for characters like "Oz" (who hates being called The Penguin) and The Riddler.

The latter appears to be a serial murderer and not the moustache twirling baddie in a green bowler hat from the comics, and Reeves explained that Batman's mission will be to investigate a series of murders tied to the history of Gotham City and his family.

Reeves mentioned movies like Chinatown and Taxi Driver as his main inspiration, and said the Batman found at this point in his vigilante career "is trying to figure out what he can do to change this place...he is not having any of the effect he wants to have yet."
