Movie He'll Die In: The Batman

Why Is It Likely? "What's the difference between Deadshot and Deathstroke?"

Google search the above phrase, scroll down, and you'll find one big reason it'd be logical to kill off Deathstroke as soon as possible.

To the casual fan, the differences between both supervillains aren't readily obvious, but the similarities are; both are assassins, both have daughters, and both are enemies of Batman, among others.

For the sake of diversity, it makes sense for the DCEU to contain just one mercenary with all the above traits, and since Will Smith is a bigger star than Joe Manganiello, killing off the latter's character makes the most sense.

Elsewhere, Deathstroke feels like the very definition of a one-and-done villain. He won't be able to pose much of a threat to the Justice League, so carrying him forward into other movies with more powerful heroes than Batman just wouldn't work.

And, perhaps crucially, we know that this version of Batman likes to kill. A lot. Given how liberally he wastes henchmen in Batman v Superman, we have a hard time believing Deathstroke will make it out of The Batman in one piece.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
