DCEU: 10 Characters Most Likely To Die (And The Movies They'll Die In)

5. Lex Luthor

Movie He'll Die In: Justice League 2

Why Is It Likely? DC and Warner Bros aren't stupid - they'll be aware that the response to Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was divisive, to say the least, and the unenthusiastic reception the character received will contribute toward him being on the chopping block come the Justice League sequel.

The reason Justice League 2 is more likely than Justice League is the fact that the first movie began filming mere days after Batman v Superman opened.

This means the script was locked and ready weeks before the studio could see whether audiences would take a liking to the character or not. Altering the script to include a major death when the film was mid-way through production would've been tricky, so Luthor is safe... for now.

The DCEU is careening toward Steppenwolf and Darkseid, a pair of massive, intergalactic villains with insane strength and robust abilities - there doesn't seem to be any room for a villain of Lex's limited influence and power. When you couple this near-uselessness with widespread fan distaste of the character, it's easy to imagine him not lasting much longer.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
