DCEU: 10 Characters Most Likely To Die (And The Movies They'll Die In)

Movie He'll Die In: Aquaman

Why Is It Likely? Though Willem Dafoe's Vulko is primarily a heroic character in the comic-books, he's also shown a darker side on numerous occasions.

In DC's New 52 - the run that the Aquaman movie will take inspiration from - Vulko starts a war between Atlantis and the surface world, causing Aquaman to have him arrested.

Incidentally, Aquaman's recently-revealed plot synopsis states that the film revolves around friction between the Atlanteans and the humans, so Vulko's darker side could very well be on display.

And you don't hire Willem Dafoe, with his wicked, gaunt facial features, to play an out-and-out good guy.

Vulko will first appear in Justice League and it's here where we'll see a tension between him and Aquaman begin to form, before he transitions to a full-on baddie in the Atlantean's solo movie, causing Aquaman to have him put down in order to prevent a full scale war between Atlantis and the people of Earth.

It's no secret that the DCEU regularly opts for a gloomier tone, so having Vulko killed - as opposed to his arrest in the comics - wouldn't feel out of place, especially with a horror director (James Wan) at the helm.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
