DCEU: 10 Characters Who Must Appear (And Who Should Play Them)
3. Blue Beetle - Jack Black
While the Jaime Reyes incarnation of the hero may now be the most famous - with the shape-shifting abilities afforded by his scarab obviously being far superior to the Batman-esque gadgets of his predecessor - the Ted Kord version is by no means not worth exploring.
The hero may function in a similar capacity to the Dark Knight, but his wacky spectacle does far more to evoke the atmosphere of the Golden Age of comics than his moody Gotham-based counterpart. This is especially true if the aforementioned Booster Gold was also brought to the big screen, with the pair being the best of friends and a thoroughly enjoyable duo.
Yet, while the two heroes may be tight, their personalities are quite the opposite, with Kord being a genius and a truly good person and Gold being not the brightest and only in the hero game for the fame. As such, casting someone like Jack Black would really highlight these differences - due to how the actor's physicality would really juxtapose that of Holbrook - a trait which, while not necessary, would truly help to differentiate the heroes.
Plus Black has proven his penchant for humour time and again, making him a brilliant fit for the buddy-cop dynamic between Booster and Kord.
