DCEU: 10 R-Rated Movies DC Needs To Make

7. Gotham City Sirens

Adapted from the comic run of the same name, Gotham City Sirens has a ton of potential to be a rarest of superhero movies: not merely an R-rated comic book film, but one also starring an ensemble cast of women.

After Suicide Squad introduced audiences to Harley Quinn, it'd be great to see the character's violent insanity taken to the next level with a more permissive audience rating, while Poison Ivy could strangle people with her plant powers, and Catwoman could use her claws to slash throats and her general flexibility to break men in two.

Whether or not the movie would leap off to explore their sexuality is another matter altogether, especially as it would be likely to veer into eye-rolling fan-service territory, but to at least see a group of female villains unleashing their ultra-violent instincts could be a real blast.

How Likely Is It?: The film has already been tentatively greenlit with Margot Robbie and Jared Leto returning as Harley Quinn and The Joker respectively, while David Ayer directs, though word has gone pretty quiet over the last few months.

The fact that Ayer is attached despite previously complaining about "PG-13 bulls***" perhaps suggests that Warner Bros. has actually granted him an R rating. Considering how teen-friendly Harley Quinn is, though, it's hard to imagine this being the case, and could explain why Ayer hasn't mentioned the project much as of late.

It could go either way, basically. 5/10
