DCEU: 10 Superhero Films DC HAVE To Make

2. Martian Manhunter

While he lacks the chiseled good looks superhero films tend to serve up, Martian Manhunter ticks the 'engaging and dramatic backstory' box of film requirements pretty intensely.

Cinematic potential aside, the fact Manhunter begins his superhero arc by watching almost his entire species be wiped out in front of him is sure to make for some unimaginably emotive viewing, especially given this doesn’t diminish the alien’s capacity to do good.

This said, the coolest thing about a potential Martian Manhunter film is that it could be literally anything the creative team behind it want it to be. Gripping drama about an alien adapting to Earth? Possible. Tension-loaded action flick? Just as compelling, and just as possible.

Where a lot of heroes require a specific genre or tone of film, the sky is the limit for Manhunter to take whatever shape suits DC’s whims – as any good shapeshifter would.
