The Rumour

Having cut his teeth on quirky indies (The Wackness is an under-rated joy), Jonathan Levine has mostly focused on mainstream, big-cast comedies - with Amy Schumer vehicle Snatched coming soon, but he's possibly set for something very different. Allegedly, he is in talks to direct The Flash, which will come out in 2020.

Response

Judging by what we've seen so far, The Flash will be the most traditionally comedic character in the DCEU, so it makes sense that Warner Bros would court a director with comedy chops. In Levine, they'd be getting one who does a lot more than bring the LOLs too.

The Flash's story is likely to focus on the incarceration of his father for the alleged murder of his mother, so Barry Allen's gags will have some balance in weightier material. That would come naturally to the Warm Bodies director, who dealt with rape culture in All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, cancer in 50/50 and has a deep line on vulnerable, conflicted outsider characters reconnecting with the world.

If it's not true, it really ought to be.
