DCEU: 21 In-Development Movies Ranked From Most To Least Likely

5. Untitled Todd Philips Joker Movie

Deathstroke Harley Quinn
Paramount/DC

Chances Of It Happening: 3/10

Probably the most surprising DC-related movie announcement of the last few years, the report (via Deadline) that Warner Bros had set Todd Philips (The Hangover) to direct and co-write a movie about the Joker's origin was met with a widespread "huh?" when the news broke last year.

Even more confusing was the fact that - purportedly - this movie would feature another actor as the Joker and would not be set in the DCEU, but these nuggets of information haven't been confirmed. As of now, the project is merely a pipe-dream; we don't know if the script is complete, and we haven't heard anything about it in months.

Martin Scorsese will reportedly produce the movie with Philips, and Leonardo DiCaprio was rumoured to be jumping aboard the project as well, but the movie has yet to be publicly acknowledged by Warner Bros.

This entire project seems completely bizarre (why confuse audiences by introducing a second Joker? Why pour resources into a separate movie universe, when your main one is struggling?) and it really is difficult to imagine it being made.

But don't write it off completely - you don't bring on people like Martin Scorsese for no good reason.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
