DCEU: 7 Hints That Batman: Under The Red Hood Movie Is Coming
4. The Black Mask Tease
Director David Ayer might have attracted considerable criticism for Suicide Squad, but Warner Bros have faith, and he's returning for the female-centric villain ensemble, Gotham City Sirens. He's also on the pre-marketing campaign trail already, teasing on Twitter that Black Mask might be the villain.
It was a wordless tease, but he knows what he's doing...
Black Mask's finest moment in the comics comes in Under The Hood, in which he plays the chief villain before freeing the Joker to take down Red Hood (which is Todd's plan all along). He's a great villain in his own right, and his supervillain crime lord backstory would offer a new dynamic for a Batman movie, but he's definitely most interesting as the key to bringing Red Hood and the Joker together for Todd's final vengeance.
And as further evidence, the shot Ayer chose for Twitter of course just happened to be from Under The Hood.
