6. Three Potential Suicide Squad 2 Villains

The Rumour

Although word is quiet on the Suicide Squad front, three villains have apparently been discussed: Bane, Maxwell Lord, and Scarecrow.

As mentioned, there's not a lot known about Suicide Squad 2 at this point, with Warner Bros. still having to sort out a lot of the initial details. There's no director yet, though the likes of Mel Gibson and Jonathan Levine have been rumoured, and it's not clear just who will be back for it either. It does, however, have a writer in Adam Cozad (Legend of Tarzan), so it's probable some early discussions over the villain have occurred.

The villains mentioned are all very different, which doesn't suggest much of a plan at this point. Fans will be very familiar with Bane and Scarecrow, both of whom appeared in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. They've already brought the Joker back, so it's not like it'd be too soon. Bane has worked with the Squad before, while Scarecrow has had run-ins with them.

Of the three, however, Maxwell Lord feels like the best fit. He hasn't appeared in a live-action movie, though has been on Supergirl, and was also set to be the main villain of the cancelled Justice League: Mortal. He's something fresh and a different kind of threat, and seems more likely than the other two, but there's a lot that will no doubt change as this movie goes forward.
