Deadpool: 100 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References

26. Ajax's Base Is A Helicarrier

In an example of flagrant contract smudging, Ajax's headquarters and the setting for the final battle is a crashed helicarrier. The design is a little different to those in the MCU (inevitably), but there's no mistaking the now-iconic ship. And thus its destruction is lightly a subtle-yet-explosive jab at Marvel. What would S.H.I.E.L.D. say?

25. An "Official" Fox Statement On Alien 3

In an unexpected turn, Deadpool provides the closest we'll ever get to official Fox word on the disaster that was Alien 3; Pool comments that Negasonic Teenage Warhead looks like Ripley from David Fincher's compromised project, to which she responds that he's "old", implying the studio thinks those still wining about a 20+ year old movie should move on. Funnily enough, Negasonic had her hair restyled for the movie to be more like Ripley's - the comic version has long spikes - a further deepening of the joke.

24. Deadpool Addresses The Movie's Limitations

While Deadpool being an R meant it could be as violent, lewd and irreverent as required, it did mean Fox limited the budget Tim Miller had to play with and reduced the amount of X-Men that could appear. Deadpool himself actually passes comment on this, pointing out that Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead are the only two mutants he ever sees and directly blaming the studio for the lack of money.
