Deadpool 2: 10 Best Moments

7. Cable Arrives

Deadpool 2 Cable
Fox

Cable (Josh Brolin) is first seen travelling from his dystopian, apocalyptic future to our present in decidedly Terminator-like fashion (but with more clothes).

He arrives in the middle of the night and immediately asks two rednecks - one of them played by Alan Tudyk, because why not? - what year it is, before stealing their truck and heading for the Icebox mutant prison where Deadpool and Russell aka Firefist (Julian Dennison) have been sequestered.

This kicks off one of the movie's centerpiece action sequences, as Cable effortlessly uses his array of futuristic weaponry to slaughter the prison's guards and blow the place to hell in search of Russell (who kills his wife and daughter in the future).

Deadpool desperately attempts to save Russell from Cable and ends up literally broken in half over the edge of a table as a result. After he regenerates, the fight continues with Wade quipping his way through it ("I'm Batman!"), using Cable's own gun against him and even trying to use his own broken arm to strangle the time-travelling cyborg-mutant to death.

Cable battles back, confirming his rather low opinion of dubstep ("Dubstep's for p***ies") and finally putting Wade down for the count. However, Wade uses one of Cable's grenades to blow the pair of them out of the prison and down a snowy mountain, where Wade literally meets rock bottom.

Both brutal and highly entertaining - complete with gags about the Winter Soldier's metal arm and the grimdark nature of the DC Universe - this was quite the introduction for Cable indeed.
