Deadpool 2: 10 Best Moments
6. The X-Force Is Born (And Mostly Dies)
After the prison sequence, Deadpool and Weasel (T.J. Miller) plan to build a team to save Russell, for which they hold auditions.
Here we meet Bedlam (Terry Crews), whose anxiety-inducing electro-magnetic capabilities are compared to Dave Matthews Band; Zeigeist (Bill SkarsgÄrd), whose ability to spit acid vomit completely defies his superhero name; the Vanisher, an invisible hero who may or may not have even shown up; Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), an arrogant alien who professes to be better at everything than everyone else; Domino (Zazie Beetz), who argues that luck is indeed a superpower, and Peter (Rob Delaney), who is just...some guy that saw the ad.
As the gang suits up and prepares to drop by the convoy carrying Russell, Deadpool dubs them the X-Force. It's largely for nothing, though, as most of the team gets quickly wiped out.
Bedlam is hit by a bus, Shatterstar flies into a helicopter rotor, Vanisher lands on a power line (revealing him to be played by Brad Pitt!), Zeitgeist flies into a wood chipper and Peter gets covered in Zeitgeist's acid vomit while trying to save him, dissolving his arm.
While some might take issue with several cult favourite superheroes being killed off so swiftly, at least it was in the service of one of the movie's most shocking, hilarious and unforgettable gags.
