Deadpool 2: 10 Directors Who Could Replace Tim Miller
2. Drew Goddard
With a screenwriting resume that includes sumptuous genre fare such as Cloverfield, World War Z and The Martian, and an industry buddy in Joss Whedon, it's a wonder this talented Texan hasn't been handed the reigns of a Marvel flick sooner. But it's his work in television that has finally put Drew Goddard as a frontrunner to helm Deadpool, with his early work on Buffy and Lost paving the way for a gig directing episodes of Daredevil. It's at this point Fox have started paying him notice.
It's pieces of work like Daredevil's sophomoric episode, 'Cut Man', that have put Goddard in the running, showing him to have some serious skills at putting together cramped, sweaty fight sequences. This episode in particular culminated in a jaw dropping long take, showing him to be a director very much at the top of his game.
Couple all that with whispers that this next Deadpool movie will involve itself with other established Marvel superheroes, drawing parallels with Goddard's current invokvemnt in Netflix's collective mash up The Defenders, and it's very likely he will be the man to helm this second slice of masked mayhem.
