As anyone whos stayed right to the end of the Deadpool movie will know, Cable will be joining up with Ryan Reynolds Merc With The Mouth for his already-in-development sequel. Cable could be played by anyone from Mel Gibson to Keira Knightly (she does have great range), according to Deadpool himself. But who the heck is this guy? you might be thinking, or maybe Should I be excited or worried about this? Well, Id wager that you should be very, very hyped to see Cable on the big screen. Hes a hugely dark and mysterious character, and his inclusion will ensure that Deadpool 2 doesnt retread any of the same ground as its predecessor. Here are ten reasons Cable will be an awesome addition to the Deadpool franchise
10. Hes Directly Linked To Iconic X-Men
One criticism of Deadpools first movie and one that Deadpool actually points out himself is that he only ever gets to see the same two X-Men. Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus are cool, but theyre hardly from the A-Team of X-Men. And the previously-canon Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore wasnt even involved. Because of this, Deadpool felt like a film on the farthest fringe of the X-Men universe. It wasnt close at all to the main storyline of the franchise. Cable will remedy all this for the sequel, because even though he hasnt been in an live-action film before he is intrinsically linked to the very core of the overarching X-Men story. Hes the son of Cyclops, who the laser-eyed X-Man sent to the future because he believed that advanced technology was the only cure a rapidly spreading techno-organic virus that Apocalypse (set to be played by Oscar Isaac in X-Men: Apocalypse later this year) had injected him with. Cables mother was Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey that the villainous Mr. Sinister had created in the hope of creating an incredibly powerful mutant by having her mate with Cyclops. In being linked to these hugely important X-Men characters, Cable will enable Deadpool 2 to feel more like a part of that universe.
