Deadpool 2: 10 Things That Make No Sense
6. Letting Deadpool Lead His First X-Men Mission
Wade Wilson has a brief stint with the X-Men in Deadpool 2, but only in a trainee capacity, as the supporting cast are quick to remind him at every opportunity. His first mission involves joining Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead as they investigate an incident at the Essex House for Mutant Rehabilitation, which turns out to be Russell unleashing fiery hell on his oppressors.
Colossus inexplicably allows trainee Wade Wilson to call the shots on the mission. Perhaps the armoured X-Man felt that having responsibility would give Deadpool a sense of purpose and help him fulfil his heroic potential, but he seemed to overlook the fact he was handing that responsibility to a man in mourning.
Deadpool was still in turmoil over the death of Vanessa earlier in the film and had attempted suicide by gas explosion a couple of scenes prior to the X-Men mission. Does that sound anything like the kind of stable leader you'd want calling the shots during a high-pressure mission involving a fire-manipulating mutant?
