Deadpool 2: 10 Things That Make No Sense
5. The Ageless X-Men
Both the original Deadpool and its sequel make it clear that the film takes place within the X-Men movie universe, though how it fits in with the chronology of the other films is hazy - not that the rest of them are free from continuity errors, mind.
The absence of X-Men beyond Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead was a running joke in the movies, up until the point when Deadpool 2 revealed that there's a bunch of them operating behind closed doors while the merc is off causing havoc.
Quicksilver, Beast, Professor X and other members of the gang make a fleeting cameo to prove they coexist with Wade Wilson but have no desire to give him the time of day. Weirdly, though, they look exactly as they do in X-Men: Apocalypse, despite Deadpool 2 supposedly being set around three decades later.
Since this is intended to be a throwaway gag, the X-Men's ageless appearance could be a nod to the franchise's broken continuity, but this joke comes with the side-effect of adding confusion to the matter of where Deadpool 2 sits on the timeline.
