Deadpool 2: 8 Reasons To Be Excited

4. Domino

If it hasn't been made clear already, Deadpool 2 is quite literally jam-packed with talent. One of the talents involved is Zazie Beetz, who'll be playing Domino (Neena Thurman) - the on again, off again partner of Cable.

What makes Domino so special, however, is that she has one of the best mutations going. Gifted with telekinesis, Thurman can quite literally make her own luck. Her powers are usually triggered by stressful scenarios, so when the going gets tough, she's a brilliant hero to have in your corner.

Back to the film though, and there's no getting around the fact that Beetz is a tremendous pick for the role - one who'll no doubt have a major part to play in both its proceedings and in the upcoming X-Force movie, which will be written and directed by Drew Goddard (of Daredevil fame). That's awesome to hear, and again, while we're still yet to actually see Beetz performing as the character, that first promo shot was plenty to convince us that she'll own it come the film's premiere.

It's also likely that Domino's allegiances, like Cable's, will shift at some point. We have no idea if she'll be teaming up with Wade or the son of Summers at this moment - if there's even a team-up to be had - but even then it's just great to see another fan-favourite mutant make it to the big-screen.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
