The first Deadpool movie was little more than a vehicle for Ryan Reynolds to show off and prove how much he understood the comic book version of Wade Wilson. As a result, the other supporting elements paled by comparison and it was no surprise that he ended up being the best thing about the film.

But in the sequel, 'Pool's evolution is so impressive that he still manages to be the best part of the film but this time the achievement actually matters. After all, beating better competition always makes victory sweeter.

He's funnier, he's more outrageous and he has actual heart this time with the additions of Vanessa's death, his considerations of mortality and the morality of Russell's assassination all adding a whol enew level of complexity to him.
