Deadpool 2: Everything We Know So Far

A few years ago, if you'd said that Deadpool - a character that was almost permanently destroyed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine - would star in a critical and box-office hit that would lead to one of the most anticipated movies of 2018, everyone would have laughed in your face.

But here we are! Deadpool 2 is right around the corner (in less than a year, we'll all have seen it) and the character is no longer the pop-culture poison he was back in 2009.

In fact, he's one of the most bankable superheroes in big-screen history, and because of this success, the impending sequel has a high bar to reach.

But so far, things are looking positive.

After a rough few months that resulted in a director switch-up, we've seen several popular comic-book characters enter the fray, as well as a funny teaser video that was released online, and the sequel has been given an extremely confident release date by the studio.

And that's not all. With principal photography now underway there's plenty to discuss, and since Deadpool 2 is such a high-profile project, there's a ton of available information about the movie that we can mull over.

It feels like the first movie only just came out, but production on the sequel is - as of 17 June 2017 - officially underway.

While shooting at Hatley Castle in Canada (a location that doubled for the X-Mansion in the original Deadpool), star Ryan Reynolds shared the first set image from the film online.

Take note of the duct tape plastered across the left leg of Deadpool's suit.

This wasn't there at the end of the first movie, so we can expect the iconic costume to sustain some damage in the sequel, followed by a scene of Deadpool hilariously (we hope!) trying to patch it up.

The production will shift to Vancouver on 26 June 2017 and will stay there until 6 October 2017, under the working title Love Machine.

Aside from that single image, Reynolds also released a brief teaser clip "No Good Deed" this past March.

This short won't be in the movie at all, and was used purely as a marketing tool to run in front of Logan.
