Deadpool 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
1. The Logic Of The Ending Doesn't Quite Make Sense
Let's get this sorted straight out: the ending of Deadpool 2 is great, inverting the new fetish for emotionally loaded endings in the genre and giving Deadpool far more depth than the first movie. But there's still a big issue with it.
Without spoiling it, the logic of what Cable does in the film's final moments simply isn't there. For 99% of the movie, he's very singularly driven by one thing and one thing alone and then all of sudden he turns his back on his motivation in a moment that still feels a little unearned.
And what makes it worse is that as soon as he make his decision and acts, it's proven unnecessary thanks to another character's "prison wallet." It just seems like a falsely manufactured way of extending him into the franchise.
And now to the positives...
