Deadpool 2 Review: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
7. The Escalation Works
The villains in the first Deadpool were a major problem because they simply weren't as interesting as Deadpool. They weren't even interesting enough to warrant his attention and it showed.
But here, the combination of Cable and a pair of other incredibly powerful antagonists means that there are some very real threats to Deadpool, which helps make the whole movie feel bigger, darker and more of a wildcard.
The set-pieces are more impressive, the characters better and there's definitely a reason for Deadpool to escalate himself and bring together the X-Force. The script definitely delivers on dialling up the odds.
