Deadpool 2 Trailer 3 Reactions: 8 Ups & 3 Downs
7. There's Some Actual Detail Here
Tying into the complaint about the vagueness of the marketing, it's great to actually have some idea of what this film is about beyond Josh Brolin's Cable simply turning up to get some business done. Brolin is a strong pull and so too is Cable, but there's no substitute for actual story details for grabbing audiences' attention (especially mainstream ones you need to be invested in more than familiar characters).
So now we know that this is sort of companion piece to Logan, in that it's about the pursuit of a key child mutant. In this case, it's Julian Dennison, who presumably grows up to be a disastrous influence on the Dystopian future Cable comes back from to kill him. So yeah, strong Terminator vibes there, which isn't a bad thing.
It's also good to have confirmation that Dennison's character is going to have a significant role, rather than just being an obscene cameo, as he was in the last trailer.
And of course, knowing that Deadpool puts together X-Force to stop Cable getting the kid pretty much maps out the entire movie's shape - without actually giving away too many spoilers. And it's good to have a bit of clarity in that respect.
