Ryan Reynolds' starring role is a concern that will remain until the film's premiere, but it has to be said that with every passing insight into the film his starring role is becoming increasingly justified. Still, though, it can't be ignored that he played a key part in the woeful portrayal of the character that so marred X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While Reynolds has done everything to distance himself from this version of the character, and there are apparently a fair few mocking references to the stitched-up mouth in the movie, those niggling doubts refuse to go away. There's also the fact that pretty much every superhero film that he's done to date has been fairly poor (something referenced in the trailer's joke about the Green Lantern's costume). It seems, judging by the trailers, that Reynolds has nailed the character down. So perhaps this is a worry that can finally be put to bed. The voice is pretty good (though not a patch on Nolan North's Deadpool from various animated series and games!), the costume looks great, and the pre-operation sequences show off Reynolds' sentimental side very well. Let's just hope these promising signs aren't providing false hope.
