Played By: Ryan Reynolds. Who's Ryan Reynolds? One-third of television's Two Guys and a Girl who went on to be Van Wilder before starring in films like Blade: Trinity, 2005's The Amityville Horror, Waiting..., Smokin' Aces, Green Lantern, Turbo, R.I.P.D. and more. And, of course, he portrayed Wade Wilson/Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. After how brutally disappointing the character's treatment was back in X-Men Origins, credit has to be given to Ryan Reynolds for sticking with the character to try and do him justice and to Fox for finally capitalizing on what fans of the character actually want to see from him. The studio has been doing its best to get the general public accustomed to Deadpool's sensibilities and the fact that he's quite unlike the Iron Men and Caped Crusaders of the world. So far, the footage, the posters, and all the other marketing have been pretty incredible, with Reynolds throwing himself completely into it all. As with the comics, the character won't cater and appeal to everyone, but for fans, it's a dream come true, with all the fourth wall breaking, one-liners, over-the-top violence, and more having already helped to rinse away the bad taste left over from the first attempt. Though whether or not the film itself ultimately works remains to be seen, it's hard not to be excited for an appropriately R-rated take on the character to finally arrive, and for what the film's potential success critically, creatively, and financially could mean for future risk-taking in the world of comic book movies.
