As soon as Morena Baccarin's Vanessa is introduced - as a hooker with a heart of gold, no less - she goes toe-to-toe with Wade Wilson for the best one-liners. Her language may even be saltier than Wade's. It was rather a large sigh of relief - Wade and Vanessa's relationship seemed overly-saccharine from the trailers, but imagine the audience's surprise when they begin courting by comparing horrific, made-up accounts of abusive childhoods. Vanessa then has you hook, line and sinker with her retort to an overweight biker slapping her on the butt. "Say the magic words, fat Gandalf." It's a shame then that she ends up going the whole damsel-in-distress route later on, when in the start of the film she's so ballsy - although she makes up for that by being the first one to get a decent lick in at Ajax when she runs him through with one of Wade's swords.
