20 Movies That Weren't Worth The Wait

An animated film based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic 1981 musical Cats was announced in the 1990s though ultimately never came to fruition, and it wasn't until 2013 that Universal announced plans for a live-action version.

Cats was finally shot under director Tom Hooper in 2018, with a wildly diverse cast including James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, and Rebel Wilson.

But the end product was nothing short of a disaster, for though the likes of Hudson and Francesca Hayward clearly gave it their all, it was impossible for most viewers to deal with the film's aggressively ugly visual style, particularly the nightmarishly uncanny look of the human-feline characters.

It's a film where almost every single creative decision is the wrong one, resulting in a film that's at once unconscionably awful and yet totally unforgettable. For anyone who genuinely loved Webber's musical, though, it was merely a sad outcome.
