20 Movies That Weren't Worth The Wait
3. Wicked: For Good
Though Wicked: For Good - aka Wicked: Part Two - was released just a year after Part One, the first movements to adapt the acclaimed stage show into a film were made in 2010.
It took the better part of 15 years to come to fruition due to the trickiness of adapting the musical, the musical's continued success, and then the pandemic.
Wicked's first part was a huge critical and commercial success in 2024, and even accepting that the second half of the show is near-universally agreed to be the lesser half, it was still assumed that the cast and crew would deliver a worthy follow-up movie.
But Wicked: For Good is a big 'ol mess, for while the performances and production values are largely beyond reproach, the sloppy script, rush-job pacing, and mostly forgettable songs can't hold a candle to what came before.
With so many years to hash things out before cameras rolled, this really should've been better, exemplified by the sequel receiving not a single Oscar nomination compared to the first film's 10 (and two wins).
