Disney Buys Fox: 8 Epic Storylines The MCU Can Now Adapt
7. Astonishing X-Men
Though the actual Avengers vs X-Men comic didn't make for the best of reads, with the cause behind the battle in question being a fairly weak one, the spectacle of seeing the Avengers lineup alongside their mutant mates will likely prove too great to ignore.
But while the title of Avengers vs X-Men could still work on the big screen, Marvel would do well to look to another series for inspiration - that being Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's Astonishing X-Men. The book pretty much relaunched the group in the mid-noughties and renewed interest in a brand that had failed to really recapture the excitement and quality of its nineties glory days.
After parting ways with the MCU in 2015, yes, it would be a little weird to see Whedon influence it again - even in a completely different way. Marvel's mutants are destined to link up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes at some point though, and with there being so many X-tales to lift from, Marvel would do well to look at the most Astonishing line-up Charles Xavier has ever fronted.
